VENUE: French Fusion at Django

The latest from the Main Street Restaurant Partners (Union Pacific, Calle Ocho) is Django, a grand restaurant situated among the high-rises and delis on Lexington Avenue, a few blocks north of Grand Central Terminal. The first floor—which seats 80—offers round tables for four in the center of the dining room, short couches around oval tables near the windows, and sloping high-backed banquettes along the walls. Beaded curtains of translucent pink glass are draped along the walls. Upstairs, a giant rectangular table surrounded by bench seating and dotted with throw pillows is an inviting spot for a group of 14, and a private dining room can seat 25. The rest of the second floor can seat 136. The food is "Gypsy-influenced French," which translates to dishes like ostrich carpaccio with mustard-harissa marinade. --Suzanne Ito
