VENUE: An Indian Oasis at Taj

You'd expect more fresh flowers at Taj, an Indian-themed restaurant and lounge co-owned by floral designer Lesly Zamor of Bloom, but there's nary a stem in sight. Instead, the warmly lit space features sandstone statues of Hindu deities along the walls. Burnt red and orange fabrics cover the U-shaped booths and tall, dramatic lampshades hang above the tables. The middle of the room is dotted with pillow-covered bed seats paired with low tables and cube seats. The space can seat 100 or hold 299 for cocktails, and a small mezzanine space—good for V.I.P.s—can hold an additional 40. —Suzanne Ito
