This week brought the announcement that Elle Decor will discontinue its 10-year philanthropic partnership with Diffa, the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, and its annual big bazaar, Dining by Design (one of our Top 100 events). Elle Decor is looking to lend support to a new art or education organization, according to Fashion Week Daily’s report.
“It’s been a terrific partnership,” said Diffa executive director David Sheppard, responding to a letter that Elle Decor publisher Dan Ragone sent to advertisers. For the significant contributions that Elle Decor and editor in chief Margaret Russell have made to Dining by Design, Sheppard said, “the foundation is grateful. But to achieve the event’s full potential and provide greater benefits to participating designers and sponsors requires a multimedia partnership with the resources necessary for growth.”
Plans for Diffa’s eight-city tour will proceed with a new national media partner. Dining by Design kicks off at Skylight in New York in March.
