David Beahm of David Beahm Designs gave us an exclusive preview of what he's working on for the Whitney Museum's fall gala on October 15. Chatting at House & Garden's 100th anniversary cocktail party at Sotheby's, Beahm said the event will be based on Alexander Calder's whimsical sculpture The Circus, which will be moved to the lobby from the small room in the museum's permanent collection galleries where it is usually on display. Beahm's decor will play off of the piece, and he's considering using live performers outside hanging from the building. Harriet Weintraub (of Harriet Weintraub Public Relations) is planning the event again (she also did last year's event, with its glamorous, 30's-influenced Club Whitney theme), and Beahm promises "lots of surprises."
