Who better to get us in the mood for Valentine's Day than the Victoria's Secret models? That's just what VS catalog and runway alums Heidi Klum, Karolina Kurkova, and newcomer Izabel Goulart did at the February 9 launch for the company''s new CD, called Strip, a compilation of old-school French cabaret songs. (Angel and party host Adriana Lima was a no-show due to a wisdom teeth removal surgery gone awry.) Held at the vaudeville-theme club Show, the Plug-coordinated party doubled as an early Valentine's Day celebration. "We've worked with Plug for two years now and we couldn't be happier with the results they provide," said Sara Tervo, the Victoria's Secret spokeswoman who handles the company's fashion shows, public relations, and events. "They are very creative, thorough, and they are continually responsible with the budget."
The Victoria's Secret beauties made their grand entrance shortly after the party began at 9 PM, entering among lingerie-clad pole dancers and cocktail waitresses (supplied by Eye Candy Entertainment and Metropolitan Hospitality, respectively) and booming 80's tunes spun by DJ Jus Ske. The Angels promptly piled into one of the three roped-off V.I.P. sections, where they indulged in bottles of Piper-Heidsieck Champagne and Imperia Vodka (both sponsors). The 19 cocktail tables in the V.I.P. sections were covered in red velvet tablecloths with gold fringe, and topped with ice buckets, champagne flutes, mixers, and scented Victoria's Secret candles.
The highlight of the evening was a 30-minute performance by the Collective, backed up by Victoria's Secret-clad burlesque dancers. A choreographed aerial trapeze artist, outfitted in a skin-colored bejeweled leotard, twisted, flipped, and spun in the air in perfect sequence with the music.
