The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute announced today that its 2008 spring exhibit will feature the iconic imagery of comic superheroes and explore its relationship to fashion. "Today, superhero imagery has suffused almost every aspect of popular culture," Andrew Bolton, curator in the museum's Costume Institute, said in a release.
The big event news: Kicking off the exhibition on Monday, May 5, will be the museum's annual Costume Institute benefit gala. Giorgio Armani will serve as honorary chair, with George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Vogue's Anna Wintour as co-chairs.
