New club Light had its unofficial opening with a party for the new editor in chief of YM, Annemarie Iverson. The elegant, dark wood-filled club is the latest venue opened by Andrew Sasson (of Jet Lounge) and his new partner, Chris Barish.
Clad in a leopard print dress, Iverson greeted guests on the bar's mezzanine level, halfway between its ground-floor entrance and sunken main bar area. She also posed frequently for photographers (including the tireless Patrick McMullan) and acted appropriately excited to meet Raymond Munns, MTV's latest VJ contest winner.
The rest of the crowd--mostly young women and a few male models (YM-worthy eye candy)--enjoyed cocktails from the dark wooden bar and nestled into the club's maroon square banquettes. DJ Dominic, a friend of Sasson's who rarely does events, spun a wide-ranging, mostly retro mix including the Violent Femmes, the Rolling Stones and James Brown.
