At Bid, the new restaurant in the basement of Sotheby's, you can watch the world walk by--literally. The restaurant offers a view of the sidewalk and thousands of Upper East Side legs that stroll past the famed auction house daily. The space, decorated with warm beiges, pinks and browns, features circular Art Deco-style light fixtures that hang from the ceiling like small space ships, and banquettes along the walls. For events, the space can hold 75 for cocktails or seat 70 for dinner. The cuisine is New American, from consulting chef Tom Colicchio (of Gramercy Tavern and Craft) and chef Matthew Seeber. --Suzanne Ito
