Battling cloudy-then-blue skies over Central Park, the Wildlife Conservation Society managed to serve up an amusing and kid-friendly event for its Young Explorers group. Held in the Central Park Zoo, the event raised funds for educational programs for the various city-owned zoos and conservation centers, which are operated by the society. The group's manager of special events, Susie Hanchett, planned the fun event.
The party treated children of the society's members to various stations of sweets, miniature hamburgers, boats of French fries and other kid-pleasing favorites from Match Catering and Eventstyles, including animal-shaped cookies and candy frogs and worms. More nutritious choices included round crimped-edge peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fun black and yellow striped fish-shaped ravioli, crudites and assorted wrap sandwiches.
Match's wait staff wore safari hats while manning the food stations and passing trays throughout the crowd. True to theme, even the serving trays suited the setting and the organization's interests--some trays sported zebra patterns and others were actually shaped as zebra heads. Musters & Company assisted Match in creating some jungle-themed decor, including lollipop trees (tree branches with suckers attached) and simple arrangements of gerbera daisies and palm-like foliage.
