




Hyde Lounge debuted with T-Mobile Arena in April. Located on the top floor, the nightclub from SBE features bottle service, small plates, and entrees, as well as a variety of seating arrangements. The 18,000-square-foot space can hold 789 reception-style for private parties during events at the arena, and offers views overlooking the arena floor. Amenities include four full-service bars, a DJ booth, and private elevators.

Jewelry-inspired restaurant Beauty & Essex opened at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in May. Designed by the Rockwell Group, the venue features jewels of all sorts in spaces including a pawn shop from Tao Group, and the Pearl Lounge, which has plush purple banquettes and a chandelier comprised of draped pearls. The venue also features a bar with a gold DJ booth and a 40-foot screened wall made of framed vintage lockets, leading guests into the dining room that has metallic and jewel-toned hues. The 10,000-square-foot space seats 230 in the main dining room and 90 in the bar and lounge.

Downtown Grand Las Vegas Hotel and Casino opened Citrus at the Grand Pool Deck in March. At 35,000 square feet, the rooftop space has an infinity pool, cabanas, a full bar, a fire pit, grass seating, and games such as corn hole and table tennis. The venue can hold receptions for 1,200 guests. Menu items include a signature citrus slaw, frozen grapes, and ceviche tostadas.







W magazine celebrated the Globes with Audi and Moët & Chandon at the Chateau Marmont on January 5. There, guests strolled wallpapered halls lined with faces of Hollywood stars from the magazine.

Chance the Rapper, the Wu-Tang Clan, Franz Ferdinand, and Wiz Khalifa are just a few of the chart-topping musicians set to perform at the 2017 Governors Ball Music Festival. The three-day festival on Randall’s Island has generated more than $125 million in economic benefits for the city since it was founded in 2014. Next: June 2-4, 2017

Last year, the Museum of the Moving Image honored Warren Beatty at its 30th annual gala salute. Additional featured guests and presenters included Annette Bening, Lily Collins, Alec Baldwin, Sarah Jessica Parker, and more. The event draws about 500 guests each year. Next: Spring 2017


San Francisco's Asian Art Museum Gala took place March 2. The event, which celebrated the connection between art and technology, featured a 96-foot-long LED tube chandelier designed by Got Light. The multicolor installation was created with more than 200 tubes.














NYC Pride’s inaugural Pride Island, a three-day concert and festival experience, took place June 23 to 25 at Pier 26. The entrance to the pier featured a massive white frame photo op with the event hashtag. Another giant decor piece at the concert area was a cutout of a candelabra. The general design of the event was provided by NYC Pride.

I.B.M. used real moss in 18- by 18-inch hanging boxes and draped from trellises to create a unique frame for its large booth. A spokesperson said the design is intended evoke a feeling of life and health. The booth also has large photos of I.B.M. clients and partners displayed atop touch-screen monitors showing videos from those people talking about how they have benefited from I.B.M.’s health technologies. The booth was designed in partnership with agencies George P. Johnson and Ogilvy, with moss provided by Planted Design.

Truven Health Analytics used wood slats to create unique frames for two large screens hanging above the main aisles on the perimeter of its booth. Organizers said the frames are part of an overall effort to add more organic elements to the booth, such as real greenery and wood flooring instead of carpet.

Everyone who plays Plinko at the NextGen Healthcare booth walks away with a prize, ranging from car chargers and Amazon gift cards to virtual-reality headsets and an Amazon Echo.

Intelligent Medical Objects is using a 25-foot chalkboard to display the history of clinical coding. Throughout the conference, an artist has been adding to the design, and attendees are also invited to post sticky notes with their thoughts on future trends in that industry.



Special Event Contractors engineered and built an elevated platform that served as the party pavilion, and the black-and-white photos were projected onto the 65-foot-tall wall of Paramount Studios’ Blue Sky Tank. The moving projection was created by Bart Kresa Design. Meanwhile, Images by Lighting emphasized Butchavitz’s use of pattern and the color red. “The lighting enhanced and amplified the raw graphic statement that I was trying to convey,” said Butchkavitz.

Brands and buyers both large and small connect at Coterie, a fashion trade show focusing on apparel, accessories, and footwear. The show, now in its 32nd year, draws American and international retailers who come to see the latest lines from established designers as well as up-and-comers. Held at the Jacob K. Javits Center, the event has traditionally taken place twice annually, but this year, host organization UBM has added a third show, Pre-Coterie, in June. Next: February 26-28, 2018
