Running from November 17 to May 15, 2011, at New York's Museum of Arts and Design, the "Global Africa Project" is an extensive exhibit of contemporary African art, design, and craft, as well as an exploration of the socioeconomic impact of art-making in local communities. The long-gestating Broadway show Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, directed by Julie Taymor—known for her groundbreaking spectacles—with music by Bono and the Edge from U2, debuts in January at Foxwoods Theatre in New York.
