Since it was founded in 1994, the Armory Show has been a premier destination for 20th-and 21st-century artwork. Held on Piers 92 and 94, the 2017 event will feature more than 250,000 square feet of exhibition space and presentations from 210 leading international galleries. The show kicks off Armory Arts Week, a citywide initiative that drew more than 65,000 people in 2016. Next: March 2-5, 2017

#2 Art, Design & Architecture Event
The four-day luxury design fair features more than 400 premium brands in categories including furniture, home accessories, art, flooring, electronics, and more. This year, the juried Made section celebrates its 10th anniversary, showcasing limited-edition, one-of-a-kind, and handcrafted furnishings. More than half of the exhibitors are new to the show this year. Next: March 16-19, 2017

#3 Art, Design & Architecture Event
The 29th iteration of the fair will include more than 700 exhibitors from around the world who will display products like contemporary furniture, seating, carpet, flooring, lighting, textiles, and more. The event brings roughly 32,000 industry professionals to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and opens its doors to the public on the show’s final day. Next: May 21-24, 2017

#4 Art, Design & Architecture Event
The Cooper Hewitt National Design Awards honor achievements in American design to enhance quality of life. Last year’s honorees include the nonprofit Make It Right, designer Bruce Mau, and Marlon Blackwell Architects. In conjunction with the awards gala, the Cooper Hewitt Museum hosts National Design Week, an initiative of public programs based on the work of the awards’ honorees. Next: October 19, 2017

#5 Art, Design & Architecture Event
More than 1,000 leading artists from 30 countries show and sell their art at the three-day art fair sponsored by Deutsche Bank. The event, which returns for the sixth year in 2017, takes place in a light-filled structure on Randalls Island. Next: May 5-7, 2017

#7 Art, Design & Architecture Event
Nine hundred guests are expected at the 2017 New York Academy of Art’s Tribeca Ball, whose chairs include Brooke Shields and Naomi Watts. This year’s theme, “A Magical Menagerie,” invites guests to dress in animal-inspired ensembles. Next: April 3, 2017
