The global fashion industry gathers for IMG New York Fashion Week twice a year, where the hottest designers showcase their creations. Roughly 100,000 people turn out for the event, which includes high-style parties all over the city and runway shows at Skylight Clarkson Square and Industria Studios. Next: September 7-15, 2017

#2 Fashion Industry Event
Since 1981, the Council of Fashion Designers of America has recognized the best of the best in American fashion design at its annual award presentation. In 2016, the organization honored Donna Karan, David Bowie, and Norma Kamali, among others. Next June 2017

#3 Fashion Industry Event
Last year several hundred young art appreciators gathered for the Whitney Art Party, which was hosted by musician Common, supermodel Karlie Kloss, and fashion designer Brandon Maxwell. The fund-raiser benefits the museum’s educational programs. Next: Fall 2017

#4 Fashion Industry Event
In 2016, F.G.I. honored fashion nonconformists like Tommy Hilfiger, Iris Apfel, Tory Burch, and Joe Zee. Each year, the guest list at the star-studded event includes more than 600 industry insiders and socialites. Next: Fall 2017
