How I got here: I am one of the few people who didn’t start out in this industry by accident! I majored in recreation, parks and tourism at the University of Florida and knew I wanted to work in events after college. I started in the events industry as an intern at the United States Olympic Committee. From there I’ve basically explored every side of events, from working in a hotel at
The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C., to working for associations, planning government meetings for a third party and, finally, corporate meetings and events for the last six years.
Greatest career accomplishment: I worked with my previous public relations team on an event featured in the Shine a Light campaign on “Today.” The campaign throughout the year focused on making
Baltimore a healthier community and featured our organization to millions of viewers live on the show.
Impressive stats: Using my vendor relationships and knowledge of the industry, I decreased costs for my department’s storage and fulfillment services by more than $60,000, which allowed us to use the cost savings for more strategic initiatives to reach key decision-makers rather than using these funds on administrative costs. We were also able to donate some of the items we no longer needed to our local USO.
What I’m working on now: I am working on a series of highly targeted roundtable discussions as part of our strategic market development on various topics within the government and military space. Knowing we are able to help clients solve complex challenges—and also change the world in the process—is exciting!
