What’s the Best Room Drop You’ve Ever Given or Received?

Six industry professionals share about the best room drop they’ve seen.

“For our FAM tours, we provide a gift tote bag with locally made items such as Granolove, Askinosie Chocolate, Ozark Mountain Popcorn and more. We put a framed picture from the event in their rooms before they return from the final evening’s activities. It is always a special way to show our appreciation and remind them how much fun they had.”
Dana Maugans, CDME, Springfield Missouri CVB

“The most memorable room drop I’ve arranged for a client was an autographed copy of her favorite author’s bestseller. She was heading to the Bahamas after her site visit here and had not read the book yet. She was baffled with excitement.”
Tara Hamburger, Daytona Beach Area CVB

“My colleague and I visited the local straw market in Nassau, Bahamas, looking for locally made items to incorporate into amenity bags. We found an indoor/outdoor flea market with no air conditioning. My meeting took place in mid-June, so needless to say it was extremely hot. But in the end, we came up with creative handmade gifts for all the guests.”
LaKisha Pindell, Tire Industry Association

“The best gift I have received is a universal USB charger. I don’t leave home without it.”
Alesha Stevenson, Bloomington-Normal Area CVB

“The best room drop I received was a six-pack of Abita beer with a handwritten note from the St. Tammany Parish Tourist & Convention Commission welcoming us and our event back to Northshore, Louisiana.”
Aaron Soroka, GWN Dragon Boat

“I managed several room drops over the course of a week for a couple hundred people attending a training meeting. We had about 600 room deliveries with specific details like T-shirt color and size preferences, personalized formal invitations for a gala dinner and so on. It was a rough one, but I walked away from that task with a greater knowledge on how to manage complex room deliveries.”
Jeffrey Cesari, Shimmer Events
