Delivering sharp, clear images where LED and plasma screens have failed, the 3M Vikuiti Screen displays picture-perfect images in the brightest daylight glare. Michael Cruce at Media Visions Inc. of Birmingham, Alabama engineered the 4- by 6-foot screen for the MTV Video Music Awards press conference, held July 25 at the Doubletree Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach. Despite the shining noontime sun, the screen displayed vivid colors and high-definition images. The versatile projection screen can increase brightness of projected images by as much as 114 percent more than regular screens, and can even be cut to shape corporate logos. Ideal for smaller-scale projections, the screen is also cost-effective: MTV purchased its screen from Media Visions for $4,000. —Juan Carlos Rodriguez
