TBS took a page from our book and got behind the scenes at the SAG awards this weekend with some preshow Web interviews with key planners. Designer Stanlee Gatti gave viewers a peek into what went into the after-party’s design: a mocha color scheme, featuring 6,200 yards of draped fabric on the ceiling and 2,500 yards of velvet for the furniture. And SAG producer Kathy Connell discussed with TBS—as she did when we sat down to lunch with her last year—the monumental task of creating the seating chart for such an event. It’s an eight-hour overnight process that includes the challenges of placing not just single stars but entire casts of big ensemble shows like The Sopranos and Deadwood. “The best actors in the world are in this room,” she said.
