… or at least the army of concierges, limos, and food and beverage staffers in town. Alas, the Oscars are no ordinary event, and its regular attendees have come to expect extraordinary treatment. Take the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel’s plans for its guests this year: Guest nominees will find in their rooms, courtesy of general manager Ali Kasikci, a bottle of Sterling Vineyards 2005 Gold Standard Reserve Chardonnay, the limited-edition wine to be poured exclusively at the Governors Ball. (Past gifts have included items from La Perla, Zegna, and Ferragamo.) The Peninsula Spa is offering special treatments designed to get guests camera-ready, and the hotel is buying up all of the 48 metered parking spaces surrounding it, assuring that attendees’ departures for the awards will be unfettered. Limos will be radioed as guests leave their rooms and will be waiting up front pronto. (For unexpected contingencies, each year the hotel reserves extra limousines with Carey.)
