At its breakfast presentation on Wednesday, Turner Entertainment Networks turned an unexpected technical glitch at the Hammerstein Ballroom to its advantage, further articulating TNT's "We know drama" and TBS's "Very funny" taglines with unscripted skits. The upfront outing, which revealed a slate of new shows for the two Turner brands, experienced what network president Steve Koonin described as a "power surge" about 20 minutes into the gathering, briefly interrupting an otherwise visually impressive and lively program. To keep the audience entertained during the setback, the organizers brought Koonin and comedian Ray Romano to the stage, who got big laughs with ad-libbed antics and jokes.

After the producers dealt with the mishap, the presentation continued smoothly, allowing the creative setup to immerse the audience in a vibrant display of video and animated graphics. Stretching from the stage's main screen, curving fabric panels wrapped the venue's balcony area and formed a 270-degree surface for projections of video, brand logos, and other animation.
