A replica of the trophy stage from the series—inspired by ballroom stages from the 1980s—stood in the front of the venue. The stage was available for guest photo ops and was also where judges gave their scores for the ball.

With a theme nodding to the 1999 film, the event was a milestone in philanthropy, raising upward of $68 million this year—all while serving as a case study in brand storytelling.

The event space was inspired by NYC above the clouds, as seen through the black-and-white coloring and LED screens displaying the tops of iconic buildings. Signage also displayed “/imagine,” which was meant to be symbolic of an artificial intelligence command to serve as “a metaphor for what we can achieve together,' according to executive producer Lindsay Carroll.
