Blueprint Studios recently showcased its latest design breakthroughs and trendsetting innovations in the event production industry at the San Francisco Symphony’s Opening Night Gala.
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, the black-tie affair kicked off the Symphony’s 105th season. The city's philanthropists, luminaries, and patrons of the arts turned out to toast the start of the Symphony's 2016-2017 season. The celebration's sumptuous, Art Nouveau Revival-inspired surroundings were created by Blueprint Studios, San Francisco Bay Area's premier event design, production, and custom fabrication firm.
The elaborate event was held in more than nine separate spaces in San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza. This included several in City Hall, Davies Symphony Hall, and an entire city street that was transformed into a chic tented pavilion. Gorgeous dining and event spaces were created and two locations after dinner were flipped within a one-hour period and converted into sophisticated after-party hotspots for socializing. The incredibly complex logistics required seamless coordination from the work of more than 100 skillful Blueprint Studios designers, fabricators, and production team members. "Working together as an ensemble was key to pulling off this complex, multi-stage event," said Mircea Manea, co-founder and principal of Blueprint Studios. "The fact that we create everything in-house, from design and props to printing and furnishings, gives us an incredible advantage."
This cohesiveness is a defining facet of Blueprint Studios' philosophy. The design team conceptualized the theme, drafted renderings, and created motifs that carried through from the smallest details to the grandest dimensions. The decor theme was a symphony of brilliant metals and bold minerals composed in a contemporary rhythm of geometric shapes and patterns. Highlights included a monumental, 75-foot-long custom-fabricated chandelier, which floated overhead in an undulating wave pattern, sculpture-topped marble pedestals and columns, and multiple massive mosaic art headboard installations. Tables were draped in ombre-patterned linens in shades of platinum silver, gold, and black.
Blueprint Studios transformed complex concepts into sophisticated graphics, furnishings, and decor. This included immense panel walls, inspired artwork, and custom-crafted chandelier tiles.
The printing and graphics and custom fabrication departments employed state-of-the-art technology to print cutouts and props in myriad materials. Blueprint Studios' floral department fashioned fresh arrangements in stylish arrays that echoed the animated aesthetic of the artwork and lighting. The production team pulled all aspects together to make the vision a well-oiled reality.
The San Francisco Symphony Opening Gala dazzled and entertained nearly 3,000 guests for more than seven hours. Blueprint Studios' all-inclusive approach to event execution ensured that the progressive, multi-venue celebration was a flawlessly realized feat of planning, design, and production.
