DIFFA's Dining by Design

Dining by Design’s 10th year of co-location with the Architectural Digest Design Show took place last spring at Pier 92 in New York (2019 also marked the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS' 35th anniversary). Shown here, first-time participant INC Architecture & Design’s “Us Is More” dining vignette was a playful kaleidoscope of colorful patches on the walls with a rainbow-bright ceiling installation. HideSeek

HideSeek, a pop-up experience for adults inspired by childhood nostalgia, opened in a 7,000-square-foot vacant space on Dundas Street West in Toronto. The ticketed pop-up, which was open for two months, featured 12 rooms, including one covered in green and pink Velcro ball and catch toys. The pop-up was the first project produced by Experience First Productions, a company founded by entrepreneur Lee Davis. The company commissioned some 20 local artists to work on the installations.

Smirnoff and Funboy Launch Event

To coincide with the brand’s then-new “Four Ways to Rosé” four-pack, Smirnoff Seltzer partnered with luxe pool float company Funboy to debut an inflatable for consumers. The hydroplane float featured a colorful, Instagram-friendly design created by muralist Jason Woodside. Smirnoff held a private launch event earlier at Andaz West Hollywood, displaying the floats at the hotel’s rooftop pool and balloon installations that complemented the float’s color scheme. MKTG designed the event and Balloon Monster provided the balloon decor. Photo ops for guests included a tent decorated with the pool floats and balloons (shown here), along with pink branded pillows and a rug.

Pandora Garden

Jewelry company Pandora brought a digital experience to New York’s High Line to tout the brand’s spring collection. The motion-activated tunnel experience, which was created by multimedia studio Moment Factory, evoked a whimsical garden with animated nature including butterflies and flowers. Journeys and Converse's Off the Prom Event

Retailer Journeys and sneaker brand Converse held a prom-theme event at the YouTube offices in New York. The event, which was produced by FlyteVu, aimed to spark a productive conversation about prom among teen attendees. YouTube star LaurDIY, DJ Zuri Marley, beauty vlogger Hailie Barber, and dancers and choreographers Michael Le and Analisse Rodriguez were on hand to help the teens get ready for prom. Roth Conference

The 31st annual Roth Conference took place at The Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel in Orange County. The parties, which were produced by Elite Productions International, took place in the Salt Creek Beach parking lot adjacent to the hotel. Green tinsel chandeliers hung from the ceiling of the tent, and organizers incorporated the parking lot's existing trees into the decor. Brooklyn Artists Ball

Brooklyn Museum’s annual fundraising gala took place April 16, 2019. The event, which was designed by David Stark Design and Production, featured a Frida Kahlo theme, inspired by the museum’s then-new exhibition “Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving.” The ceiling of the museum’s Beaux-Arts Court featured a cascade of colorful “papel picado” decorations. The event drew more than 1,200 guests and raised more than $1.9 million for the museum’s exhibition and education programs.

The Colour Club

The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation opened an interactive pop-up space in Toronto to raise awareness for its upcoming Colour To Conquer fundraising program, which invited Canadians to temporarily dye their hair and challenge others to do the same. The pop-up was designed by Tiffany Pratt and featured Instagrammable beauty salon vignettes in the colors of the rainbow. Stacks House

Finance-theme pop-up Stacks House took place in Los Angeles’ Arts District last spring. The pop-up experience was conceptualized by She Stacks, a company that aims to promote financial independence and close the gap between women and wealth through products, content, and experiences. Produced by Advoc8, the pop-up featured money-theme activations, including a colorful infinity room that let visitors see into their financial futures. Drink Company’s Cherry Blossom PUB

Drink Company’s third annual cherry blossom-theme pop-up bar in Washington took place at 1839 7th St., N.W. Last year, the bar’s special projects team, Matt Fox and Adriana Salame-Aspiazu, took inspiration from the Fontaine de L’Encelade at the Palace of Versailles in France. The space featured more than 10,000 Japanese cherry blossoms, peonies, and roses that covered the ceiling, walls, and wooden trellises.
