1. HOW EVENTS LEAD TO HAPPINESS: The live event marketplace Eventbrite may exist in the digital realm, but it connects people to live experiences that lead to happiness, according to Eventbrite co-founder Julia Hartz, who is interviewed as part of Huffington Post’s Trailblazing Women series. “Whether it's an organizer who is setting up an event for the first time and is delighted by the fact that they can do it in 3 minutes, or it's a consumer looking for something to do on a Thursday night and finds an amazing event just around the corner that they may never have otherwise found,” Hartz says. “Those moments and touch points of delight are so important to us and are truly what has led to our success.” http://huff.to/1AGWU66
2. LONDON’S HOTTEST AND WEIRDEST NEW POP-UP BAR: More than 25,000 people have signed up to get entry into London’s latest pop-up bar: an an owl-theme bar called Annie the Owl that opens in a secret location next month. 3. ARE CELEBRITIES BYPASSING HOTELS FOR HOME RENTALS?: During Hollywood's award season, celebrities interested in more privacy and personalized amenities—although perhaps not the same level of hospitality—are turning to private home rentals instead of hotel suites. Hollywood Reporter: “’It's not uncommon to get a celebrity who is here for the Oscars or Grammys and wants to play for a week or a month,’ says Billy Rose, a founder at brokerage The Agency. The trend has been accelerated by the rise of peer-to-peer leasing sites such as Airbnb and VRBO (Vacation Rentals by Owner), which have brought the convenience of home rentals to the forefront. … ‘Instead of spending $20,000 to $30,000 a night to take out an entire floor at The Beverly Wilshire, you can get a ridiculous house with all the amenities for $100,000 a month,’ says Hilton & Hyland agent Josh Altman.” http://bit.ly/1D487vW
