ATLANTA—After setting up shop in New York and Chicago, the FRIENDS Experience, which was originally created for the show’s 25th anniversary, is now headed to Atlanta, where it will be open from July 15 through Sept. 6 at Perimeter Pointe.
Created by Superfly X, in conjunction with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Television Group, the immersive experience features some of the series’ most recognizable sets as well as memorable moments including the infamous sofa scene. (Can we all say, ‘PIVOT!’)
“Being such an iconic and special show, it’s a challenge to make sure we are delivering on what the fans expect,” said Stacy Moscatelli, EVP of brand marketing and creative for Superfly X, which is the global-themed entertainment division of Superfly, known for producing the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival each year. “I think we’ve done a pretty good job—our team has rewatched every episode and paid close attention to every detail to make sure we get it right.” She added that the team also asks fans for feedback, which led to the addition of a replica of the show’s apartment building hallway to the experience. “Fans are at the heart of everything we do,” Moscatelli said.
While the flagship experience is based in New York City, the touring version is designed to travel to different locations and must take into consideration the size and shape of various venues, which means Superfly X—which offers turnkey event planning, production, audiovisual and hospitality services—needs to “modify the space to ensure the best guest flow and experience from beginning to end,” Moscatelli explained. “The biggest difference between the touring model and the flagship in NYC is our flagship is significantly bigger and has aspects that can’t easily be toured from space to space during a 60-day run, for example, bigger props, costumes and sets,” she said.
As for COVID protocols, “we ensure everything is ‘Monica Clean,’” Moscatelli said, “by placing hand sanitizer throughout the experience and abiding by the CDC’s recommendations. Our COVID protocols vary by market based on local guidelines and recommendations.” Some current health and safety measures include a noninvasive temperature check upon entry, mask-wearing (although folks are allowed to remove masks for photos) and social distancing.
Timed entry ticket prices start at $32.50. The space is also available for private events.
