Winter and spring came together at the American Museum of Natural History's winter dance celebrating the museum's "Baseball as America" exhibit. The event featured some fun, pretty spring-themed decor from Belle Fleur, who used actual baseballs in the centerpieces. Some tables were decorated with rectangular boxes filled with roses on one side and a bed of wheatgrass with baseballs nestled inside on the other. Other tables had square boxes with a bunch of red tulips planted in a bed of grass with baseballs at the base of the stems.
Cocktails--and baseball-friendly boxes of Cracker Jack--started the evening in the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Hall (where some of the cool dinosaur skeletons are) and then dinner and dancing followed in the Rose Center for Earth and Space. The winter ball is one of three major fund-raising events the museum throws annually--this event hosted 400 of the museum's young donors.
The event also featured a silent auction and a private viewing of the baseball exhibit. While this year's event wasn't as outrageous and glam as last year's Asian-themed dance, the theme nicely showcased the museum's new exhibit and did it with an Americana flair without being too over-the-top patriotic. While the wet weather outside indicated Mother Nature's unwillingness to let go of winter, the event marked a nice transition from winter to spring in theme and tone.

At the American Museum of Natural History's winter dance, Belle Fleur created fun centerpieces for the Baseball as America theme with red roses and baseballs nestled in a bed of wheat grass.

The event was held in the Cullman Hall of the Universe inside the Rose Center for Earth and Space.

Other centerpieces by Belle Fleur featured red tulips planted in a bed of wheatgrass with baseballs beneath it.
