For the eagerly anticipated launch of Playstation 3, Sony Computer Entertainment America put the play into Playstation with a November 8 bash at the shuttered Robinsons-May store in Beverly Hills, which was resurrected into a living, breathing fantasy department store. BNC and Best Events collaborated on the retro-flavored event, introducing the new computer game console in mock store departments stocked with toys, wigs, candy, and logo-embossed T-shirts and travel bags, all available for the grabbing by evening’s end. Guests also posed for Polaroids in life-size snow globes. A performance by Diddy kept the crowd on its feet late into the night. Joining ubiquitous celebutantes du jour Paris, Nicole, and Lindsay were mere mortals who won admission by submitting faux screen tests in the form of videos, essays, poems, and Powerpoint presentations.
