The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Women in Entertainment breakfast is among the town’s top events focusing on the female portion of the industry. So it shouldn’t be surprising that this year’s event, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on December 5, was S.R.O., spilling out into the reception area outside the Crystal Ballroom, where the proceedings were televised. The historic hotel provides plenty of atmosphere, so Bobbi Frank, the Reporter’s special events producer, and Jeanne Pedersen, the paper’s special events coordinator, kept embellishments simple: Centerpieces of pink gerbera daisies and white hydrangeas adorned tables laid with plates of papaya, strawberries, and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.
About 680 guests heard Sherry Lansing present the leadership award named after her to Meryl Streep. Also addressing the crowd were producer Stacey Sher and World Trade Center stars Maria Bello and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The breakfast coincided with the release of the 15th annual Women in Entertainment Power 100 issue, which ranked Sony Pictures Entertainment honcho Amy Pascal No. 1. Sponsors included Lifetime Television and the Ford Motor Company. The Rosen Group, mPRm Public Relations, and the Reporter handled PR.
