* INCOMING *

1. APPLE STORE UPGRADE: After a decade as experiential design leaders, Apple's retail stories marked their 10th anniversary this month with a revamp called "Apple Store 2.0." San Francisco Chronicle: "Visitors to the company's 325 stores will find that the old acrylic signs next to every computer and mobile device have been replaced with iPads running customized display software. Customers can use the tablets to learn more about each product or to summon a store employee with the tap of a button."

As with all things Apple, there's plenty of online analysis and speculation. One irony: The iPad 2s used for so many displays are not in stock for purchase at some stories.

2. BEYONCE'S INSPIRATION: Her showstopping performance at the Billboard Music Awards—in front of a giant screen of dynamic images—on Sunday was produced by the same graphic designer that produced a multimedia performance by Lorella Cuccarini. Here's a video showing the performances side by side. [Via Vulture]

3. CANON & HOWARD: Canon U.S.A. Inc. has launched new multi-dimensional marketing campaign, “Long Live Imagination.” The collaboration with Ron Howard invites consumers to submit photographs to be used as the basis for a short film that will premiere at a red-carpet event in New York. In addition to a YouTube channel showcasing user-submitted photos, the promotion will take place across social media platforms including Flickr, Facebook, and Twitter. Grey New York is developing the creative and digital elements of the campaign, with its Alliance division executing the consumer promotion, event, and PR.

* A MOMENT OF TED *

From the desk of editor at large Ted Kruckel: "I am attending my first election 2012 fund-raiser on Wednesday. This one is for Duck (North Carolina) Democrats, which is the state hosting their convention. The event honors Judy Lotas of LPNY advertising, who chairs the group. The party features very modest ticket levels: Platinum is $10, Gold is $7, Silver is $5 and General is $2. The bottom of the invite discretely makes clear that additional donations will be accepted at the event and as someone who has asked friends for candidate money, I am SO jealous I never thought of handling it this way."

* INTERNAL BUSINESS *

Yesterday we announced the finalists for the BizBash West Event Style Awards. The winners will be announced at the BizBash West Expo on June 14 at the Pasadena Convention Center.
