1. M.L.K. MEMORIAL DEDICATION: After being delayed by Hurricane Irene in August, 10,000 spectators came out Sunday to see the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial. Reverend Al Sharpton, Dr. King's children, and others spoke before President Obama, who was followed by performances by Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder. The Washington Times:

2. GAGA FOR CLINTON: Lady Gaga and others performed Saturday night at the Hollywood Bowl during the "A Decade of Difference" concert that celebrated the 10th anniversary of Bill Clinton's foundation. Gaga channelled Marilyn Monroe, in blonde hair and red lips. Billboard: "Lady Gaga similarly serenaded Clinton and changed several of her lyrics to reference him, including swapping the title of ‘Bad Romance’ for ‘Bill Romance.’"

3. COLIN COWIE SITE LAUNCH: The event designer’s new weddings site went live this morning, with tools, articles, and lots of photos. Last night Cowie toasted the launch with a party at the Glass Houses in New York, for wedding industry players, media, investors, and other friends, with caterer Peter Callahan’s trademark hors d’oeuvres and a trio of female violinists. 4. STEVE JOBS MEMORIAL: Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, and others joined to honor Jobs at a private service at Stanford's Memorial Church. The New York Times: "Guests arrived to find tight security surrounding the Apple-hosted event. A reception in the university’s Rodin Sculpture Garden was scheduled to follow the service."

CHICAGO: Fashion Focus Chicago, a weeklong celebration of the city's fashion industry, coordinated and directed by the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture‚ kicks off today. Happenings include runway shows, free shopping events, and industry parties. There are four headlining shows in Millennium Park, including one Tuesday that showcases the work of the designers of Macy's Chicago Fashion Incubator program. Presented by Mario Tricocci and VitaminWater, Wednesday's "InspireDesign" show will feature five local designers, including Michelle Tan and Reddoll. LAS VEGAS: Chateau Nightclub & Gardens at Paris Las Vegas celebrated the opening of its anticipated outdoor nightclub, Chateau Gardens, Saturday with a performance by Pharrell. The 22,000-square-foot space is located under the Eiffel Tower on the rooftop of the indoor club, overlooking the Bellagio.
LOS ANGELES: Jordan Kaye has joined the Andaz West Hollywood, heading up marketing for the property.
Wolfgang Puck hosted a luxe brunch Sunday with M.C. Viveca Paulin, prepared by chefs including Nobu Matsuhisa, Joachim Splichal, and Paul Liebrandt at the Hotel Bel-Air‚ which just reopened Friday after two years closed for a total overhaul. All proceeds went to St. Vincent Meals on Wheels in L.A. The brunch and charity auction was part of the first annual Los Angeles Food & Wine, which ran October 13-16.

Mike Brown, the owner of design and production outfit Lot71, is now being represented by Workhouse PR. Brown, who has created Fashion Week sets for Isaac Mizrahi, Thakoon, and Y-3, is designing several large-scale interior installations for Uniqlo's three New York stores as well as 12 its global locations. The first installation will debut later this month.

ORLANDO: The World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems is at the Orange County Convention Center through Thursday. More than 8,000 people from 65 countries are attending the event, which is focused on new transportation technology. In addition to a 350,000-square-foot exhibit hall, organizers have set up 25 live demonstrations in the parking lot outside the convention center and also at Disney's Richard Petty Driving Experience.
Microsoft, Dell, Hitachi, Cisco, and I.B.M. are some of the sponsors for Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2011, taking place through Thursday at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resort.
