1. SUPER BOWL RECAP: THE SHOW: The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots last night in Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in front of 72,000 spectators. Blake Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert opened the game with a tamed rendition of "American the Beautiful," followed by Kelly Clarkson's national anthem.

Madonna took to the graphic-heavy stage in lavish black and gold Roman-like attire during the halftime show with Cee Lo Green, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A. along with a marching band and choir. There were no wardrobe malfunctions to report, but Madonna did have to hoist herself up onto bleachers after taking what looked like a misstep and M.I.A. flipped the middle finger to T.V. viewers.

2. SUPER BOWL RECAP: THE PARTIES: From Chicago bureau chief Jenny Berg: This year’s big game sparked a packed schedule of parties.

Hosts included Pepsi, which held a concert Wednesday night from Latin artists Alejandra Guzman and Larry Hernandez for 3,500 guests at the Indianapolis Convention Center at its Musica Super Bowl Fan Jam and also hosted the Tazon Latino VI Celebrity Flag Football Game with Latino NFL players Thursday. Bud Light took over a 180-room Hampton Inn Hotel for four days, splashing its logo on everything from pillow mints to a football-shaped mural constructed of thousands of bottle caps.

Within the brand's temporary hotel, Playboy hosted a party Friday night replete with aerialists and a Mini Cooper displayed in an installation inspired by a peep show. Other magazine bashes included Maxim's Saturday night event, which had a superhero theme and activations for sponsoring brands including Tabasco, Patron, Paul Mitchell, and Coca-Cola. Also on Saturday, Rolling Stone's first Super Bowl party celebrated the 150th anniversary of Bacardi, and evoked Cuba from the 1920s, 1950s, and present day.

DirecTV returned for its annual Celebrity Beach Bowl Saturday, which saw big names such as Snoop Dogg competing on a sand-filled field in a 10,000-seat arena. The company also hosted a party Saturday night with Baroque and Victorian decor and a performance from a football jersey-clad Katy Perry.

We’ll have a slideshow of the standout parties surrounding this year's Super Bowl on bizbash.com later today.
