1. OSCAR'S EARLY PARTIES: Oscar campaigns are masquerading as studio holiday parities, with the events coming even sooner this year. Hollywood Reporter: "Thanks to strong films and a shift of the start of Oscar voting to December 17—the earliest date ever—distributors are packing in as many parties and screenings as possible before voting ends January 3. That means an early onslaught of bicoastal campaign lunches, dinners, and A-lister-hosted screenings." http://bit.ly/11EsIHF

2. WHITE HOUSE HOLIDAY: In case yours is lost in the mail, take a look at this year's White House Christmas card. It features a painting of First Dog Bo by Iowa artist Larassa Kabel. Mashable: http://on.mash.to/VF9VHI

3. DUNKIN'S HAPPY NEW YEAR: A Facebook contest from Dunkin' Donuts will offer winners the chance to have a photo or video on a Dunkin' billboard during the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square. Mashable: "Notably, this New Year's Eve effort has no location-based checkin component. Just two years ago brands including American Eagle, Bravo, and Facebook were running promotions asking consumers to check in at Times Square before the ball drop." http://on.mash.to/Xq6Zmm

4. DESIGN DUO: Here's an introduction to the design team of Stephen Alesch and Robin Standefer, who have set trends for hotel design and are moving to the corporate world with clients such as Facebook and Huffington Post. New York Times: "If one was wondering whom to thank for turning hotel lobbies into communal hives for high-tech movers (see the Ace Hotel), for the renaissance of tile work (the Standard, High Line) and for the popularization of once-shunned casement windows (everywhere), a thank-you note could be sent to Roman & Williams’s sixth-floor office on Lafayette Street. Since the husband-and-wife team of Mr. Alesch and Ms. Standefer founded the architectural and interior design concern Roman & Williams in 2002, their aesthetic of a rugged Americana lifted from a make-believe past has gained dominion over swaths of New York, especially downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn." http://nyti.ms/R8TK84
