January 9, 2014: Denver Caterers Create High-End Marijuana Menu, ‘Girls’ Premiere Party Has Brooklyn Theme, JPMorgan Chase Names New Marketing Chief

1. DENVER CATERERS CREATE HIGH-END MARIJUANA MENU: Now that marijuana is legal in Colorado, it follows that there will be munchies. Event planners and caterers are responding with menus that pair well with weed, much like they would with wine. A sample menu from Three Tomatoes Catering: blue cheese meatballs, chicken-Parmesan lollipops and steak-jalapeño poppers. Denver Post: “From what I've heard, people get cravings for snack food," says [chef Matt] Boyington. "So I came up with different flavors, different textures, savory, salty items that people would enjoy anyway." http://bit.ly/KIlTko

2. ‘GIRLS’ PREMIERE PARTY HAS BROOKLYN THEME: The party for the third season of HBO series Girls was held in Manhattan but had a Brooklyn theme. New York Times: “The Kings County motif was on full display at Jazz at Lincoln Center: There were bartenders clad in flannel, a newsstand where Brooklyn Lager was doled out and a full-size replica of a G-line subway car. … After the screening, guests were funneled into a vast dining hall where cocktails flowed and the sacred foodstuff of Greenpoint’s newest residents was served: chicken and waffles, tiny lobster rolls and brussels sprouts.” http://nyti.ms/K85CnJ

3. JPMORGAN CHASE NAMES NEW MARKETING CHIEF: Kristin Lemkau is the new chief marketing officer at the bank JPMorgan Chase, replacing Claire Huang. Reuters: “Lemkau, 46, will continue as chief communications officer for the Chase consumer and community banking unit and will also be responsible for company-wide brand strategy and advertising, sponsorships, market research and event marketing, according to a statement from the firm.” http://reut.rs/1fdlIuN
