The Greater Washington Board of Trade, Junior Achievement, and Washingtonian brought together several hundred attendees for the 21st annual Washington Business Hall of Fame gala Tuesday evening at the Hilton Washington. The black-tie fete, co-sponsored by Sprint and Capital One, honored this year's Hall of Fame inductees.
Behind the Scenes Events’ Roxanne Rukowicz produced the event. “We kept it super simple," she said. "Most of the visual is being done with the lighting by Atmosphere.”
Allen Westergard, office managing partner of KPMG in Tysons Corner, chaired the event, which raised $1.2 million for Junior Achievement, a program that teaches financial skills to local youth. Rukowicz highlighted the charity by having its participants greet attendees at the entrance of the event and escort the honorees on stage.
The Miles Stiebel Orchestra played during the hotel-catered dinner. The menu included an endive and apple salad, halibut with potatoes and brussels sprouts, and a trio of mini desserts comprised of a molten chocolate cake, cinnamon ice cream, and apple pie.
WJLA-TV ABC7 anchor Leon Harris was the M.C. of the program, which featured video montages of each of the inductees by TEAM. This year’s honorees included Ralph Shrader, chairman and C.E.O. of Booz Allen Hamilton; David Bradley, chairman of Atlantic Media; Margery Kraus, president and C.E.O. of APCO Worldwide; Barbara Krumsiek, head of Calvert Investments; and Knox Singleton, president and CEO of the INOVA Health System.
