1. New York City Wine & Food Festival

Sponsored by the Food Network and Cooking Channel and presented by Capital One, the New York City Wine & Food Festival brings celebrated chefs, restaurateurs, and culinary personalities to New York for four days of demos, parties, tastings, and other food-focused programming at venues across the city. In 2019, 40,000 guests showed up at more than 80 events, with highlights including the Bank of America Dinner Series with high-profile hosts such as Michael White, Scott Conant, and Marcus Samuelsson; a master sushi-rolling class hosted by Masaharu Morimoto; the Family Ice Cream Fun-dae hosted by Duff Goldman; and the Drag Brunch hosted by Ross Matthews. The festival raises money for local nonprofits No Kid Hungry and the Food Bank For New York City. Next: October 8-11, 2020

2. Summer Fancy Food Show

As the largest specialty food industry event in North America, the Summer Fancy Food Show offers 34,000 attendees the chance to connect with more than 2,600 exhibitors showcasing upwards of 200,000 products. The show, held at the Jacob K. Javits Center, also includes educational seminars, a buyer/supplier match-making program, award ceremonies, innovative trend and product showcases, a pitch competition, and networking opportunities. Exhibitors collectively donated more than 110 pallets of food to City Harvest to help feed New Yorkers in need last year. Next: June 28-30, 2020
3. International Restaurant and Foodservice Show of New York

More than 15,000 industry professionals attended the International Restaurant and Foodservice Show of New York at the Jacob K. Javits Center in 2019. Held along with the Healthy Food Expo New York and Coffee Fest, the event featured 547 exhibitors and expanded its footprint by one-third compared with 2018. This year’s show will highlight the hottest menu trends, design and decor, and other topics of interest to the foodservice business. Attendees will also see the return of popular programming like bartender battles, cake-decorating competitions, and culinary demos. Next: March 8-10, 2020

4. Chefs' Tribute to Citymeals

In 1981, the legendary James Beard co-founded Citymeals, a nonprofit that delivers meals to frail and aging New Yorkers. The annual Chefs’ Tribute honors Beard’s legacy by bringing together 1,000 guests for a one-of-a-kind tasting event to benefit the organization. Last year’s event celebrated collaborations between chefs and their artisanal purveyors, with Jonathan Waxman, Daniel Boulud, and Angie Mar among the participating chefs. Held as always at Rockefeller Center, the evening raised nearly $800,000, which translates into 108,000 meals for people in need. Next: June 2020

5. Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs Event

An invitation-only gathering, the Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs Event marks the reveal of the magazine’s annual list of on-the-rise culinary talent. The 2019 gathering at Gramercy Tavern recognized 10 honorees hailing from cities as varied as San Juan, Puerto Rico; Seattle, Washington; Aurora, Colorado; and Atlanta; among others. The new class joined the likes of accomplished alumni including Tom Colicchio, David Chang, and Nancy Silverton. Next; April 2020
