Today is the official online launch of the Event Leadership Institute, which offers on-demand video classes covering a range of skills and interests related to the event industry.
E.L.I. provides content in short videos, enabling students to jump immediately to the information they want. The average class is 45 minutes long, and broken up into 10 chapters of four to five minutes each.
Class topics include event strategy and ROI, audiovisual technology, lighting and design, legal and insurance issues, fund-raising, and entrepreneurship. Ninety percent of classes have qualified for continuing education credits for the Certified Meeting Professional program.
The institute is co-owned by BizBash and Howard Givner, who serves as its executive director. Givner is the founder of the event firm Paint the Town Red and the former North American C.E.O. for Global Events Group, which acquired Paint the Town Red in 2008.
In addition to classes, the E.L.I. site (eventleadershipinstitute.com) also shows interviews with event professionals including Karen Dalzell of Dalzell Productions and Mary Wittenberg, who directs the New York City Marathon.
Users can purchase classes a la carte for $35 to $55 each, or subscribe for unlimited access. Monthly subscriptions are currently $25 per month and will be $35 starting in January. Annual subscriptions are currently $250 and will be $350 starting in January.
