Spanish hotel chain Room Mate Hotels, which already has 14 properties in its portfolio, now includes new Miami boutique hotel the Waldorf. On Ocean Drive in the renovated Waldorf Towers, the South Florida property opened September 16 and is the chain's second in the U.S. (its first is in New York).
The remodeled hotel offers three room types—standard, deluxe, and junior suites. The 44 designer rooms have high-end bed linens, a private, spa-like bath, and amenities for business travelers like free Wi-Fi and room service. Designed by Spanish designer Ignacio Garcia Vinuesa, the Waldorf merges Miami and Spanish styles through contemporary furnishings and colorful textiles.
The property can accommodate 25 to 30 people for a cocktail reception in its 850-square-foot lobby, which is decorated with white seating and tables with wood accents. Prime Time Restaurant & Bar, off the lobby and operated independently of the Waldorf, can hold 50 people for an event. The restaurant takes over the entire front end of the hotel, including the sidewalk, and offers American cuisine, with specialty fish and seafood dishes like paella, lobster ravioli with Absolut vodka pink sauce, and grilled tuna steak with sweet soy and cucumber cusabi sauce.
The hotel is also set to become the city's first LEED-certified hotel.
