ATLANTA—This month, the Sports Power Brunch traded footballs for baseballs. On July 13, the popular gathering for women in professional sports, held during Super Bowl Week, hosted its first spinoff event: the Sports Power Brunch Women in Baseball, presented by New Era Cap.
The event was held in Atlanta—specifically at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta—as the city hosted the 2025 MLB All-Star Week, which included the All-Star Game on July 15, plus the many fan experiences and activations in and around Truist Park.
The Sports Power Brunch Women in Baseball, like its Super Bowl counterpart, honors the women, often behind the scenes, in the world of professional sports. The inaugural honorees for the baseball event included Boston Red Sox executive vice president and assistant general manager Raquel Ferreira; Baltimore Orioles president of business operations Catie Griggs; and CEO of Sports Management Partners Lonnie Murray, who is also the first Black woman to be certified as a player agent by the MLB Players Association.
The new spinoff event is a testament to the growing momentum behind women’s roles in professional baseball, both on and off the field, says powerhouse PR and sports executive LaTonya Story, the architect behind Sports Power Brunch. She is also based in Atlanta.
"I didn't want a major event like MLB All-Star Week to come to Atlanta and not participate," she says, adding that she once again tapped The Shaunta Brand to help produce the event.
Along with New Era Cap as presenting sponsor, the event was also sponsored by Pronghorn, an Atlanta-based accelerator for next-gen Black entrepreneurs and executives in spirits.
“Pronghorn is about equity and access, and the Sports Power Brunch is exactly that," says Pronghorn vice president of marketing René Chatfield. "It’s about creating a safe space for women and beyond for us to come together and celebrate one another."
