Just as the weather cools down, the Bronx Museum of the Arts heats things up with the “Tropicalia: A Revolution in Brazilian Culture” exhibit. The Tropicalia movement began to pervade the art, music, theater, film, and architecture of Brazil in the late 1960’s—and served as a means for Brazilian artists to depart from European tradition. Artists from the era, as well as younger generations, are represented in the show, which contains more than 250 works, including interactive installations from artist Helio Oiticica that engage viewers’ senses of smell, sound, and touch. The show runs October 7 through January 28.
