Fields Restaurant Group, the group behind District nightclub in Adams Morgan, has opened a second venue next door, combining a sports bar and high-end nightclub. The Underground opened last Thursday in the former building of Saki Asian Grille with 4,000 square feet of event space spread across two floors.
The main level of the venue is home to the sports club portion of the establishment. There is seating for 40 at high-top tables, plus six flat-screen TVs showing all the big games, as well as a projector. The TVs can also be used for entertainment purposes for private events.
A lunch and dinner menu, the same as District's, is available on the first floor and consists of traditional pub grub like hamburgers, hot dogs, and wings. For receptions, this floor can host an additional 30 people.
Downstairs, the basement lounge has a nightclub atmosphere, with lounge seating for 70 around the perimeter of the room and a DJ booth. Adding to the high-energy atmosphere are 7,000 LED lights running along the walls and ceiling, which are computer-controlled and can be changed to sync with music.
The lower level can host 180 for receptions, and buyouts are available for groups of as many as 250 people.
