1. WHITE HOUSE CLOSED: The government spending cuts known as sequestration have claimed at least one popular group activity: White House tours. The administration cancelled them starting Saturday, with members of Congress tasked with giving the bad news to constituents who want to plan a tour or have already scheduled one. Lawmakers unhappy with the move came up with a Plan B: Tours of the Capitol. New York Times: http://nyti.ms/14r4e3b

2. GLOBAL FASHION: For the Chanel show at Paris Fashion Week, Karl Lagerfeld went big. New York magazine's The Cut: He "plonked an enormous globe, complete with topographical details, in the middle of the Grand Palais." http://nym.ag/XLebaS

3. NEW MARRIOTT BRAND: The hotel company has launched a new brand, Moxy Hotels, in Europe specifically targeting the millennial traveler. Mashable: "The budget-friendly hotels target techies, and are set to open exclusively in Europe next year. Rooms will feature built-in USB ports in each wall socket, and guests can check in via their phones. What's more, guests need not be concerned about overpriced, spotty Wi-Fi, as the chain is set to offer free connection throughout the hotel." http://on.mash.to/W3iD56

4. CANNES-DO APP: A new app connected to the Cannes Film Festival is seeking to make the movie-selling process easier—and make the DVD screener a relic. Hollywood Reporter: "Sellers can invite buyers and festival programmers to download and watch films offline inside the Cinando Viewer app on their iPads. … An on-screen watermark, file encryption on the iPad, an iPad ID linked with the Cinando member account, and a secured HTTPS tunnel are just some of the app’s security features." http://bit.ly/Z8DGnB
