June 3, 2015: Awards Rank the World’s Best Restaurants, Universal Studios Hollywood Plans 50th Anniversary, 'Allure' Brings Sunscreen Activation to Music Festival

1. AWARDS RANK THE WORLD’S BEST RESTAURANTS: El Celler de Can Roca in Spain is the best restaurant in the world, according to a contest sponsored by the bottled water brands S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. The highest-ranked United States restaurant is Eleven Madison Park in New York in fifth place. The process for naming the winner has come under criticism. Eater: “Members, which include food writers, gastronomes, and chefs and restaurateurs in equal parts, are required to have dined in restaurants they vote for within the past 18 months. And while many professional critics and Michelin inspectors are required to pay for their meals for reasons of objectivity and journalistic integrity, ‘the World's 50 Best Restaurants places no restrictions on whether voters … pay for their meals or how they pay for travel to restaurants outside or inside of their territory,’ group editor of the 50 Best guide William Drew told Eater.” http://bit.ly/1K6Acd6

2. UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD PLANS 50TH ANNIVERSARY: A California version of the massively successful Orlando attraction Wizarding World of Harry Potter set to open next year is expected to cap a period of turnaround for Universal Studios Hollywood in time for the theme park’s 50th anniversary. Los Angeles Times: “Virtually every corner of Universal—the parking structures, the main entrance, the theme park, the studio backlot—is under construction, all in anticipation of a certain boy wizard. … The nearly constant dust and din of the massive expansion marks quite a turnaround for a park that was down on its heels at the beginning of this decade.” http://lat.ms/1ePiGhF

3. 'ALLURE' BRINGS SUNSCREEN ACTIVATION TO MUSIC FESTIVAL: Music fans at the Governors Ball in New York this weekend will get a lesson in preventing skin cancer at an activation and fund-raiser from Allure magazine. Women’s Wear Daily: “The Allure Sunscreen Mist will offer sprays of SPF 30 for $2 and will donate a portion of the proceeds to the melanoma research team at Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone Medical Center, a research group that Allure has been actively supporting throughout the year. Also, Allure has plans to bring this sunscreen station to additional events over the next several months.” http://bit.ly/1AK7YTP
