Many of Tampa Bay's young patients took to the runway on March 11 at the fifth annual Fashion Finds the Cure event benefiting the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. The fashion show and shopping extravaganza featured some of the season's latest designs and served as a reminder of the importance of funding cancer research.
Nearly 500 attendees crowded into the Saks Fifth Avenue store at Westshore Plaza to watch the show and take advantage of the store being closed to the public so that they could shop and help the charity at the same time-10 percent of the store's proceeds from that day went to the charity. Each girl walking the runway was escorted by a celebrity participant, among whom were players for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, representatives from the Tampa Bay Lightning, and a variety of local radio and TV personalities.Fashionistas and partygoers alike were pleased to dine on assortments of treats from some of Tampa's favorite caterers and restaurants, including Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Salt Rock Grill, and A La Carte Catering. In addition, Touch Vodka, Peroni, and Clos du Bois Wines provided an open bar.
As the event wrapped up, attendees were given a glossy black gift bag filled with gifts from the event sponsors, including a leather luggage tag embossed with the Mercedes-Benz logo and an assortment of Giorgio Armani products.
Due to the overwhelming success of the Tampa tradition, event planners announced that another benefit, Fashion Funds the Cure, has been scheduled for April 22 at Saks Fifth Avenue in Orlando.
