The Bryant Park Restoration Corporation hosted a press conference today announcing plans for the Pond at Bryant Park—a 17,000-square-foot ice skating rink that will dominate the park from October 28 through January 15. (The rink won't be up for the entire winter, since preparations are necessary to transform the park for Fashion Week in February.) The icy arena will hold 500 skaters, and with the sponsorship of Citigroup, will be open to the public free of charge. Ark Restaurants, which operates the Bryant Park Grill, will handle event booking for the facility, including the 2,000-square-foot Ice Café—a fully enclosed café and bar beside the rink.
