Condé Nast Portfolio might be reducing its issue count to 10 a year (and cutting its staff by 20 percent), but the rough economic climate demands the business magazine stay on top of the issue. It aims to do just that with a breakfast symposium at New York’s 21 Club November 20.
Remaining magazine contributors John Cassidy, Matt Cooper, and Jesse Eisinger are all lined up for the event to discuss the struggling economy, government bailouts, and the future of the stock market. (The 32 staffers shown the door in the last week are presumably not on the guest list.) A Condé Nast spokeswoman told The New York Post, "We planned this before the economy took a downturn. It's not good times all around, but we feel it's still an important topic to discuss."
