Barbara Moore is a client relations account manager at Big Head Cartoon Caricature Art & Entertainment and an event and marketing technologist at Patay Consulting. She graduated in May 2020 with a degree in Hospitality Management and previously served on the national board of the Student Event Planners Association where she helped establish chapters at universities across the United States. Moore lives in Irvine, Calif.
How she got her start: "I started in various different positions in the events industry—event rentals, sales and planning. My first big step into the events industry was when I called Aubri Nowowiejski and got involved on the board of directors for the Student Event Planners Association (SEPA), with the goal of assisting students to become event professionals. From there and after several varied positions in the events industry, I was recommended to assist Kate Patay, chief strategy officer of Patay Consulting, in 2018 remotely. In November 2020, Kate referred me to Christina DeNee', owner and lead artist of Big Head Cartoon."
Biggest lesson from the last year: "I went back to college and graduated in May 2020 with a bachelor's in hospitality management from Cal Poly Pomona's Collins College of Hospitality Management. That was quite an experience! The biggest thing navigating the pandemic has taught me is that perseverance and having a passionate goal to move forward in the events industry leads to innovation. The best example of that has been Christina DeNee' and the Big Head Cartoon team coming together, transitioning what they know to something exciting with virtual event experiences that focuses on live digital caricatures and music. We are continuously thinking of the future of engagement, which has now put us into the hybrid event space. It truly is a time for coming together with industry peers to help everyone achieve more while having fun!"
Career goals: "To be a leader guiding others in events, as I have been guided by so many amazing event industry leaders. Being in a position where I can give back and be useful to others is my No. 1 career goal."
In her free time: Moore is currently serving as volunteer coordinator for SEARCH Foundation's Annual Signature Event at Catersource + The Special Event 2021.
Advice for her peers: "Keep pushing the boundaries! It's still time to be innovative and logistically creative. Manifest and bring into existence those crazy dreams in your head, and reach out to peers to make it a reality."
