From Eat Well, Drink Better—the company behind spots like English and Angels & Mariachis—the bar, restaurant, and live music venue LaSalle Power Co. is set to open in River North on May 1. Occupying a 20,000-square-foot three-story building, the venue has a rock 'n' roll theme and a total capacity of 1,000.
Just off the entrance, the private Red room can seat 40 guests and offers its own audio system and 52-inch plasma-screen TV. The back of the first floor houses the main bar area, where a 160-inch plasma screen TV can hook up to laptops and DVD players. The entire first floor can host receptions for about 300 and seat roughly 140.
With pool tables, retro swivel chairs, and six plasma-screen TVs, the 5,000-square-foot second level serves as the main dining area and can seat 250 guests. In back, a private space known as the Green room can seat 30 and is equipped with its own 52-inch TV. The entire second floor can hold 350 for cocktails.
The third floor functions as the venue's primary private event space. With a full kitchen that welcomes outside caterers, the space can seat 300 and provides standing room for 400. A stage at the back of the room hosts live acts or can be used for karaoke. (The venue will provide take-home DVDs of guests' performances.) The owners are in the process of installing a drop-down screen for presentations.
The in-house menu offers items such as cucumber and watermelon salad, Angus beef sliders, mini pot pies, and buttermilk fried chicken and waffles; spiked milkshakes headline the cocktail list. Staffers can arrange for passed hors d'ouevres, food stations, or plated dinners.
