New entertainment venue Vodvil opened with a party on Thursday. It offers the experience of a game night for grown-ups, with word games, trivia, classic game show challenges, and party games like charades and celebrity. Set in a lounge space that evokes a '70s game show vibe, Vodvil comes from media lawyer and karaoke fan Joshua Saltman.
The space is available for a full buyout on any day of the week, during the day or in the evening. The venue is closed Mondays, but can also open for a buyout. The capacity is 150, and there are three private dining room options, as well. The intimate karaoke den, called the blue room, holds as many as 15 guests. The red room accommodates 40 guests for a seated event or 60 for a reception. The two rooms combine to become the purple room (get it?), which holds 55 guests seated or 80 for a reception. There are several dinner packages and beverage packages, although event groups may order drinks off the regular menu, as well.
Each night at the venue has a different theme, for instance Face the Music Tuesday, Word Game Wednesday, and Studio Sundays. The venues games are led by performers who serve as hosts to run the show. There are prizes for winners.
As for the food, Top Chef alum Jamie Lauren created the menu that includes childhood favorites and classic Americana dishes. Menu items include pigs in a blanket, house-made chips and onion dip, sloppy joes, fried chicken, turkey potpie, and green bean casserole. The entire menu is designed to be shared by everyone at the table. A specialty drink list includes punch bowls and contemporary spins on old-school classic food like orange dreamsicles.
