That kind of problem can lead to favorable press about how popular the collection is, but Abby Trexler, senior PR manager at Jack Morton Worldwide posted a blog item about the potential negative impact of the sell out: “What appears to be a hit is actually an experience that could have been improved: Target Red Card holders could have been given first access, reinforcing brand loyalty. Target could have staggered the merchandise release to extend the sales period.”

3. BRAND PROMOTION AT TIFF: The Toronto Star looks at the state of swag at the Toronto International Film Festival: “The guests at the Hazelton Hotel are the creamiest — about half its 77 rooms are filled with A-list celebs, the likes of Bono and Madonna (the other half are split between studio [execs] and ‘high-net-worth’ guests, set to pay $1,000 to $4,000 per night with a five-night minimum to stay at the residence-style, locked-down hotel during TIFF. Accordingly, their bedroom gifting bags are valued at about $7,000—though the two aforementioned stars can expect swag bags valued at $10,000).”
