Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital Preview Gala

The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago hosted a glittery, celebrity-packed benefit on April 21. With headliners Sarah Jessica Parker and Harry Connick Jr., the evening had decor with towering paper centerpieces in the shapes of flowers, windmills, and airplanes. Artist and illustrator Jami Darwin Chiang constructed the paper pieces.

Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario Gala

Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario's annual gala at the Liberty Grand April 14 based much of the design scheme around the night's "Inspire" theme. Bill Fulghum, event designer at William Fulghum, wanted to inspire and surprise guests. Eye-catching decor hung overhead. “The large, floating paper flowers, combined with the oversize Moooi chandeliers, created a certain fantasy feeling,” Fulghum said.

'Visionaire' 63 "Forever" Issue Launch

During the Frieze New York art fair weekend, Visionaire magazine and its issue partner G-Shock threw a bash at the Clocktower Gallery in TriBeCa. All the furniture was hand-wrapped in traditional kitchen aluminum foil. Forty pounds of Mylar confetti covered the floor, and the brick walls were painted silver and purposefully left unfinished.

American Cancer Society's Discovery Ball

Dubbed "Passport to Discovery," the American Cancer Society's Discovery Ball at Chicago's Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel on April 27 had a travel-inspired theme. Based on an old-fashioned train station, HMR Design Group's decor included suitcases, trunks, and street lamps; the registration desk looked like a ticket counter.

Target's "Dish You Were Here" booth offered up recipe cards featuring dishes from around the world and food products from the company's Archer Farms collection. Staffers at the sponsored booth also served guests globally inspired snacks such as Mexican spiced brownies.
