Last year’s smash hit Hamilton fueled interest in the Tony Awards, which honor the best of the best in the world of Broadway theater. Ratings for the show, which airs live on CBS, marked the highest in 15 years. Former Tony winner and current late-night personality James Corden hosted the event. Next: June 11, 2017

#3 Entertainment Industry Event
The 2017 Tribeca Film Festival Presented by AT&T will open with the world premiere of Clive Davis: The Story of Our Lives, followed by a concert from performers including Aretha Franklin and Jennifer Hudson. Tribeca Talks: Storytellers will return for the second year, with high-profile Hollywood creatives Barbra Streisand and Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu. More than 280,000 people attended the festival in 2016. Next: April 19-30, 2017

#4 Entertainment Industry Event
This fall the Film Society of Lincoln Center will host its 55th annual New York Film Festival, which draws 70,000 movie fans to venues all over Lincoln Center for screenings and related events. Last year’s festival included screenings of Pedro Almodovar’s Julieta, Kenneth Longeran’s Manchester by the Sea, and Ava DuVernay’s The 13th. Next: Fall 2017

#5 Entertainment Industry Event
The 45th iteration of the Chaplin Award Gala, named for Charlie Chaplin, will bring together 3,000 people to honorable notable talent in film industry. Morgan Freeman received the award in 2016, and Robert De Niro will be honored this year. Next: May 8, 2017

#6 Entertainment Industry Event
Chance the Rapper, the Wu-Tang Clan, Franz Ferdinand, and Wiz Khalifa are just a few of the chart-topping musicians set to perform at the 2017 Governors Ball Music Festival. The three-day festival on Randall’s Island has generated more than $125 million in economic benefits for the city since it was founded in 2014. Next: June 2-4, 2017

#7 Entertainment Industry Event
Last year, the Museum of the Moving Image honored Warren Beatty at its 30th annual gala salute. Additional featured guests and presenters included Annette Bening, Lily Collins, Alec Baldwin, Sarah Jessica Parker, and more. The event draws about 500 guests each year. Next: Spring 2017

#8 Entertainment Industry Event
Since it was founded in 2008, Brooklyn's Northside Festival has grown to attract more than 110,000 attendees annually. In 2017, the four-day event will take place at 50 venues; host performances from 400 bands; and feature 200 speakers on the subjects of music, innovation, and art. The festival ends with a massive block party in Williamsburg. Next: June 8-11, 2017

The 10-day Digital Content NewFronts bring together brands and media buyers to secure advertising partnerships for the year to come. The marketplace, established in 2012 by the Interactive Advertising Bureau, offers the opportunity for companies such as AOL, Google/YouTube, National Geographic, Warner Brothers, and BuzzFeed to showcase their upcoming content and secure ad revenue. Next: May 1-12, 2017
